Wreck this Journal game: week 6 (or 7), how it played out.
That “let it go” page has been bothering me for weeks so today I decided this would be “The Day I Lose It” no matter what.
In mid-afternoon I left it inside a local freebie newsprint magazine that I found on the coffee table in the waiting room at the clinic where I go for physical therapy on my shoulder. After I slipped it into the magazine and set it back on the coffee table I noticed it was dated February so I didn’t think anyone would bother with it.
But the next person who came in picked it up! The magazine fell open right where I had put in the lost page! The gentleman gently removed the lost page, read it and examined it. He read the front, then turned it over and tilted it to read the “four letter words” I had scrawled in columns on the back. (Example: don’t do nut done it) Then he gingerly returned it to the magazine and replaced the magazine on the table. Can you say poker face? ‘Cause that’s what he had throughout.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, my journal was smooshed under the big cast iron frying pan to set the glue on the replacement page I had inserted into it. I’d been saving this spare page for weeks. The yellowed, slightly brittle page was smack dab in the center of the sidewalk around the corner from where I live. It was as though someone had placed it there explicitly for me to find on my daily walk. No trace of who it belonged to, no other pages, just this one. Never one to question serendipity, I picked it up and brought it home.
Here’s the photo ‘cause that’s pretty much it for my wreckerage this week. Of course, I glued it in upside down.
WRECK ON!
